Incorporating catering, retail and leisure facilities, Village is located at Worthy Down Station. The concept has been launched by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, with support from its contract catering partner Sodexo and their partners, Design at Source.
Working cloesly with Sodexo, Design at Source have created a brand that fosters morale, builds community and creates connections amongst the Royal Navy, Army and Air Force staff living at the base.
Design at Source created an environment that is stylish, casual and has the users’ wellbeing front of mind, offering relaxed social entertainment and a place to unwind after the working day.
The venue has been designed to provide a flexible space, that blends social learning and events functions; from lectures, to yoga and from film screenings, to themed nights!
A unifying scheme runs throughout the venue, creating a crisp, vibrant design that feels warm, welcoming and relaxing. Spaces have been carefully zoned to fulfill a function, without customers feeling they are in separate spaces. A meeting lounge, a micro-theatre and a gaming area have been developed. Some of these spaces encourage different uses. Semi-enclosed Pods, for instance, have been designed with the ultimate in connectivity in mind. The pods can be used for console gaming, presentations, learning, or just watching TV!
