Genting Casinos asked Design at Source to give this casino an uplift, befitting of the building’s listed status. The team were overjoyed to discover this gem of a buidling. A 2-storey property, that encompassed spectacular architectural features, including a domed ceiling, curvaceous arches, a hexagonal, central void and ornate mouldings and friezes.
However, these features were all painted out, hidden under a neutral colour palette, providing an underwhelming space.
The design team tasked itself to provide a scheme, that highlighted the building’s rich, architectural, history and character, giving the casino some much needed ambience and punch.
The once painted out, first floor, mouldings, arches and frieze, were brought to the fore. Architectural arches were now painted white, while walls around these arches, were painted in a subtle, heritage green, to highlight the architectural vernacular. Meanwhile, moudlings and frieze details were brought out in a rich gold. Bold and graphical, marble effect, wallpaper highlighted the architectural columns, while the use of a complimentary colour palette, gave life to these spaces, tieing the scheme together.
An intricate, Victoriana bar apron, together with a basket weave, oak floor gave the first floor some much needed sophitication and quality. The team’s attention to detail carried through to the carpet, where the studio created a carpet design that reflected the buildings, spectacular, double height central feature.
