Inspired by Manhattan’s East Village, Brick & Liquor brought in Design at Source to help translate this idea into reality. Brick & Liquor’s philosophy is to provide great hospitality in friendly, neighbourhood venues. Design at Source took this to help create an intimate venue, using a warm palette of colours and textures. Being a relatively small space, Design at Source ensured that every last inch was designed to ensure there was no “superficial use of space”. Every item was meticulously planned right down to the display cases, which holds some of the much needed stock.
The bar is a real focal point and this was mocked up to ensure the ergonomics were honed perfectly. Offering a two-tier style layout the bar allows bar tenders to prepare drinks on the upper tier, while guests use the lower tier, below. The resultant urban look has been achieved by making the most of the existing exposed brickwork; teaming this with industrial fixtures and fittings; so much so that the shopfront had to be removed to install the new raw steel bar top. A real labour of love, this venue is the first of the Brick & Liquor brand, with Design at Source brought in to help form the second site….
